Yes, You Can Wear Blue Eyeshadow

Hi all! One of the things I got for my mom this Christmas is Artistry's Signature Color Haute Holiday Bundle. It comes with the eye palette, an amaaaazing mascara, liquid liner, and makeup remover (necessary to keep your lashes intact when taking your makeup off, for the record). So basically everything you need to put together the look I did for mom on Christmas and at an amazing value.

Also, there seems to be this unspoken rule these days that blue eyeshadow is a no-no. WRONG. Done properly, blue eyeshadow can seriously compliment mostly brown and green but also blue eyes (every once in a while). My mom has always loved her blue shadows and I have always loved a challenge, so I decided to purchase this beautiful palette for her and create an easy look that can be done for holidays or any occasion, really.

I also used a few colors from my MAC palette to blend with and supplement the Artistry colors. PS don't mind my crazy dirty contour palette haha I can't believe myself sometimes. Here's a break down of the steps, refer to the images of the palettes to connect colors:

  1. Base: bottom left corner Mac. This is a beautiful creamy gray. We didn’t have eyelid primer and I didn’t think to use our concealer- so I put this light gray on the entire lid to hopefully aid in making the rest of the colors stand out and blend well and it worked! You 100% don’t need to put color over the entire lid before applying this look, I just wanted to test it out.
  2. Outside halves of lid: far left Artistry. I used the far left light blue on the Artistry palette on the outside halves of my mom’s eyelid. I also lightly lined along her entire top lash line with this using this thin brush (the taller of the two).
  3. Inside halves of lid: middle blue Artistry. For the inside halves of mom’s eyelid I used the middle blue on the Artistry palette. Notice that when you apply two main colors on the eyelid you don’t want a solid straight line dividing the colors. The dark color should make a sort of crescent shape and the lighter should fill in. They should blend together well so there are no solid/harsh lines.
  4. Outer corners: far right Artistry blue. This blue is VERY pigmented and can be intense, so I placed a small amount of Artistry’s dark blue on the outer corners of the eyelid and blended slightly upward- not too far. I also used this with a thin brush (same as earlier) to lightly line the bottom lashes about a quarter of the way towards the inside of the eye. Once again, this can get really dark so be sure to pat away excess color from the brush before applying- unless you’re going for a dramatic eye 😊
  5. Inner corners: white from Artistry palette. Lastly I used the white in the Artistry palette to dab on the inside of the eyelid and line the underneath of her eyebrow. This white is so beautiful- it has a nice shimmer but isn't ONLY shimmer which is an issue I've ran into more than once. It is a well-pigmented white with the perfect amount of shimmer.
  6. Optional to add sparkle: Because I was doing this look for the holidays, I added the bottom middle sparkly Mac color over the shimmer of the Artistry white to add a festive level of interest and blended the outside colors with the Mac light brown to compliment mom’s beautiful brown eyes. (Unfortunately since I added the light brown it was all the camera wanted to capture! For that reason the below photo looks mostly brown where it is actually blue😒)
  7. To finish: I finished off with the Artistry liquid eyeliner- which glided on soooo smoothly- in a thin line along the top lid to make mom’s eyes look striking but keeping the focus on the beautiful holiday palette. I used a pencil liner to line the outside bottom water line for the same amount that I lined the bottom lash line with the Artistry dark blue. Lastly we applied the artistry mascara to pull it all together and seriously look how thick and beautiful it made her eyelashes look 😍 this stuff is amazing- I love mine.

NOTES:
*look how flawless mom's skin is!!*
*this post made me realize that I should definitely pick up a nice camera soon 😂  sorry guys*
*if you're doing this for New Year's (which you should), pick up this liner in "fun night" and line EITHER the top or bottom lash line. I wish SO badly that I had done that this day but I didn't bring it home of course*

Happy day after Christmas!
