A Few Easy Holiday DIY's

Hi all! I hope you're feeling as festive as I have been. I think what really sets off my Christmas-y mood is getting our tree put together! This year we had a dilemma because this year we ALSO had a child....and he is curious about EVERYTHING, obviously. So at first we thought we wouldn't be able to put our tree up and it seriously broke my heart! But, I came up with a clever solution. There is a large woven basket in our living room that holds our throw blankets, and I simply took a few off the top, set our tree base right in the middle, and threw my favorite white fluffy one over the top and kind of packed the tree in so it was stable. It looks beautiful! Here is just a little glimpse:

Little bear LOVED these bells!

When I was finished decorating the tree this year I really just wanted there to be more. It was pretty simple and I love our colors, but we don't ever do garland. So instead of going out and purchasing a few new garlands, I decided to raid my craft box (carefully curated during my time in Tridelta) and see what I could throw together. I also went to Hobby Lobby (of course) and since they're having a 50% off sale on their Christmas decor and Christmas craft supplies I grabbed some fluffy white yarn, gold bells, and red sparkly ribbon (which I showed on my Instagram). I came up with two garlands and some ornaments that I absolutely love.

First, the fluff-ball garland.

The first thing I did was cut LOTS of 3 inch strands of the super soft yarn I picked up from Hobby Lobby. I cut 100 3 inch strands per fluff ball. It sounds like a lot but it really didn't take long at all! I laid the 100 strands on top of gold and white twine that I had in my craft box (it came from Target).

(Hi Theodore 😂)

One by one I tied in the bundles with a super simple double knot. I tied them as tight as possible so they fluff up really well and obviously so they don't fall apart. And here is one of the fluffs in our tree:

Secondly, the bell ornaments. I reeeeally wanted cute little bells in our tree this year but all I could find were tiny little fake bells and that just wasn't going to cut it for me. But when I stopped at Hobby Lobby I found packages of 6 great sized bells that I knew would be perfect.

For this super simple DIY I took classic twine (shown above) that came from Hobby Lobby (which I realized could also be found at Target, because what can't?) a long time ago and tied a bow on the little "handle" (what I keep calling it, I know it isn't a handle....lol) on top of the bell. I cut the bow string extra long so I could make the bow exactly how I wanted it and I could just trim the extra when I was done. Here is a photo of that little "handle":

After the cute little bow, I cut another large piece of the twine off to make the loop that hangs from the tree. I just thread it through the handle and tied a little knot on top. I think they're beautiful!

Last but not least, the sparkly bow garland. I first cut 1 1/2 ft strands of my sparkly red ribbon, which seems like a lot but it made really good sized bows and there was just a tiny bit of extra that I snipped off at the end. After I cut all the strands I tied each one into a simple, basic bow. I then hot glued each bow along the same gold and white twine as the pom-pom garland about 1/2 ft away from each other so the garland could be relatively long. And that was it!! So easy!

I hope you all try these DIY's! They take no time at all and add that extra something special to your tree or wherever you decide to use them! (I almost hung the bows with our stockings....still considering switching it up) If any of you have done any holiday crafts tell me about them! I love a good DIY 😊

Lastly, fun news! From December 13-24 I will be doing "12 Days of Christmas (Looks)" where I'll style one holiday outfit from casual to dressy every day for 12 days! These can be found exclusively on my LTK page (LIKEtoKNOW.it) and I'll put a link to follow me there below!!

Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to read!!
