Kind, Open-Minded, Elegant, Intelligent

Hi all! I hope your new year is off to an amazing start! Like last year, I thought I'd share with you my resolutions. This year, I took a new approach (new to me) to figuring out my resolutions. Usually I would think to myself, "What am I unhappy about regarding my looks/personality/routine?", and base my resolutions off of the answer to that question. Do you see something wrong there? I did! How degrading! The reason for resolutions is for improvement and enlightenment, not to pinpoint what's wrong with ourselves. So this year I simply thought about the things I'd like to achieve.

My resolutions for the year are: read one book per month, manage my time well, and to simply focus on my health and wellness. Last year I also had the resolution to read one book per month and I came no where near to that πŸ˜‚ So we're just trying that again. If anyone else has a reading resolution PLEASE reach out! Maybe we could start an accountability group of sorts or even an online book club! (Am I nerdy or does that sound super fun??) As for time management, I've actually been really good at time management for a long time, but I admire those who dedicate their lives to it! Productive people inspire me and don't we all want to be inspiring? Focusing on health and wellness seems like a "no-brainer", but I'd love to achieve a lifestyle where it doesn't take an extra thought to whip up a very healthy meal for my family. By really focusing on my own health and wellness this year I hope to gather simple, easily memorizable recipes that I can make for family and friends and simple tips and tricks that I can also share with my friends and family so a byproduct of this resolution ends up benefitting my loved ones as well. (For the record, if you ever have just made a delicious healthy meal and you happen to think I might like it, it is never unsolicited to send me that recipe πŸ˜‹ It would make my day!)
I also did a little more reflecting this new year. Since setting resolutions is all about bettering yourself, and a focal point of my resolutions is the ability to share my new knowledge to help others also better themselves, I really gave thought to who I want to be as a person and whether that matched up with those I currently am looking up to and the people I consume content from the most. For the most part, these didn't match up! So I'm also making it a point this year to focus on those people who inspire me in hopes that their personalities may rub off on me ever so slightly. In an attempt at transparency, I'll share the women I look up to and aspire to be like (other than my mother, of course, and a few other family members and friends)!

My top three (so hard to narrow down) women that impress me with their intelligence and poise are Emma Watson, Julia Roberts, and Julie Andrews. I wanted to really break down what it was about these women that appealed to me and whether or not the core of who they were was something I should actually aspire at. After consideration I was left with four words that I feel encompass these women well: kind, open-minded, elegant, and intelligent. Throughout 2019 I plan on working on my kindness, my open-mindedness, my elegance (needs a lot of workπŸ˜‰), and my intelligence. I do believe I have quite a bit of each of these attributes but there is always room for improvement and I know working on these things this year can only do me good.

I would love to hear who you look up to, your resolutions, or simply your thoughts on my methods to come to my resolutions for the year.

Thank you as always for taking the time to read!
