The Saturday Six
Happy Saturday! We woke up to rain today and I really had to fight the urge to put that in my Saturday Six list 😂 Nothing makes me happier than a rainy Saturday morning. This morning I had my work out (chose a very quick BBG Challenge because I was just not in the mood for sweating my brains out), did my ten minute yoga routine, had a Target and coffee run, and now I'm sipping that coffee and watching my Theodore play while I type this out for all of you. Usually I would write a blog post well in advance, but life has been crazy and admittedly I prioritized things over this but since I skipped last week's Saturday post, I really didn't want to make it twice in a row!
This week went by very quickly due to the fact that I had so much to do. I have been addressing wedding save-the-dates allllll week. It's fun and exciting but can get tiresome! Luckily, coffee exists, and my first of the six items this week is exactly that.
1. Cinnamon Shortbread Latte at Starbucks: I add cinnamon to my coffee every single day, but it's never quite as good as this 😉 You know how some specialty drinks from Starbucks are best ordered either hot or cold? This is not one of those drinks. I have had it both ways and it's not too sweet to be iced and it isn't too bland to be hot! It's amazing either way, so it should please the masses.
2. Kindle App for iPad: Like I talked about in my last blog post, I have a goal of reading one book every month this year. I read The Omnivore's Dilemma on the Kindle app and I loved how it saved my page even if I accidentally exited the app or the iPad died. Also, if I was flipping between pages to find something I had read earlier (or looking to see when the chapter ends...am I the only one that does this, no matter how exciting the book I'm reading??) the Kindle app records the last page you spent real time on and suggests that to you as your "last read page", so you can flip around the book without losing your spot. Also, I've noticed that purchasing a book to be read on this app is around $5-$10 less than purchasing the hard copy or purchasing online in other formats! And while I love the feeling of opening a brand new book and reading from real pages, I also love a deal.
3. Those Viral Facebook Cooking Videos: This one is less serious 😂 For the most part on Facebook I just scroll passed the videos. I think it's the millennial in me that won't slow down. BUT when I see one of those cooking videos, usually from Tasty, I always stop and watch. They always look so good! I really can't help it. As good as they look though, I hadn't ever actually made one of the recipes until this week. I just couldn't pass it up. It was called "creamy lemon butter chicken spaghetti" which sounds super weird but the video sealed the deal. However, it was calorie LOADED, so I switched up some of the recipes ingredients (and a few cooking methods, I'm particular) and I will be posting the new and improved (1,500 less calories?? yes please) recipe this coming week!
4. The Monique Lhuiller x Pottery Barn Collection: This is the dreamiest collection I have ever seen. Seriously. I'm pretty picky, especially when it comes to home decor and the general aesthetic of what's around me, and I could/would use every piece of this collection. I'll share my favorites below:
5. Simple Truth Organic Carrot & Turmeric Pressed Juice: I have pressed juices pretty often, mostly because it can pack a lot of nutrients in in a small amount of time. If something is refreshing and good for you, why not go for it? The taste, though, is a complete hit or miss. And I'd honestly say around 70% of the time the taste is average or just not good. So when I find one that's absolutely delicious, I'd say it's worth talking about! Next time I need some pressed juice I'll for sure be looking to see what Simple Truth has out! Another great brand that I'm sure you've heard of is Suja juice. They also have yet to let me down!
6. Kansas Skies: I had to include our amazing, never-ending skies in this week's six because I saw so many great sunsets and sunrises this week. I don't know if I was just paying closer attention or if we actually just had unusually amazing skies this week, but it was magic! I love seeing the rolling hills against our huge gorgeous sky. Kansas has some perks, guys!
Thank you all for reading! I'm so appreciative of the support I have been receiving!
