Seattle

Hi all! My time in Seattle was absolutely so fun! Traveling to new places keeps us curious and keeps us young! I'll be breaking this post down by day, as opposed to location because we revisited certain places and I don't want to confuse locations with each other. There is so much to be done with any and all age groups, so Seattle is a must no matter what stage of life you are in!

Friday

Travel outfit (most items linked are similar to what I'm wearing as I didn't buy most of these things recently): summer sweater - linen tie-sleeve tank - linen pants - Jack Rogers - suitcase

The foliage in Denny Park is so full and bright right now. This park was just a short walk away from out hotel and we visited often.

We checked into our hotel late- around 8pm so our dinner options were relatively limited. We were all exhausted and ready to just relax, so we opted for a quick bite at Shake Shack. I LIVE for Shake Shacks burgers though, so this was just fine with me 😊 Our walk to dinner was through Denny Park. Any time I had a chance to walk through or near the park I took that chance. There are currently the most beautiful trees and bushes blooming, some species I've never seen before! For dinner, I just took off the linen pants and switched them for these jeans. I made sure to get very fancy for Shake Shack πŸ˜‰

Saturday
Princi

Another blooming tree

For breakfast we visited Princi, a partner (I believe) of Starbucks. They offer only some of Starbucks' blends of coffee, but not the intense specialty drinks. They hand-make more croissants than you can count and many other delicious and (dare I say it) authentic looking Milanese bakes. I obviously ordered an almond croissant because if there is one in front of me I can't say no. It was very good! All of us enjoyed our light breakfast and wouldn't mind returning before we left.

We then wandered the streets of Seattle with the intention of eventually ending up at the Pike Place Market. We specifically made sure that we allowed ourselves to wander during our trip. I've found flitting via Uber from one location to the next sucks out some of the best memories to be made traveling. Here are a few beautiful things I noticed along the way.

Haven't figured out what this is yet, but it was amazing to stand in front of.
Christ our Hope Catholic Church had beautiful carvings like this all along the exterior.
Pike Place Market
What you all are probably reading this for πŸ˜‰ On Saturday we spent maybe an hour at Pike Place Market and it was no where NEAR enough time. We hardly broke the surface. I expected the market to be along a street side or something similar, but it's all tucked in down a street and winds backwards toward the water, if that makes sense. There were soooo many fish and flower vendors- I was in heaven. But on Saturday around noon there was also soooo many people! We decided to keep exploring the city and revisit Pike Place before we leave on Tuesday.

Saturday's excursion outfit: sweater - tee - jeans (same as yesterday) - tennis shoes - bracelet - bag (similar, from the same place) - earrings

Seatown Market Diner

We left Pike Place Market and made our way to Seatown Market Diner. I ordered a bowl of the clam chowder and it was served with bacon bits and parsley oil. It was so delicious and so filling! Even after a bustling morning with only a light breakfast, I couldn't finish the chowder. But it was so nice to taste the super fresh seafood! I always miss fresh seafood living in a land-locked state, so visiting restaurants on the water is one of my very favorite things to do when I visit towns so close to the sea, such as Seattle!

Volunteer Park and Victrola Coffee Roasters

After lunch we ordered an Uber to Volunteer Park because we had hear wonderful things of the area. Unfortunately for us, it was pouring down rain. In order to enjoy that area the weather needs to be relatively nice as you're walking around outdoors without shelter. We quickly wandered the streets through an absolutely gorgeous neighborhood near Volunteer Park and then headed over to grab coffee. If you're near Volunteer Park during the lunch hour, be sure to stop by the Volunteer Park Cafe. It looked cozy and delicious! We got coffee at Victrola Coffee Roasters and it was such a welcome treat after being cold and wet for an hour or more. Their syrups were all house made and you can definitely tell the difference. I ordered a mocha (my first "treat" coffee of the trip...I needed it after the rain πŸ˜…) and it warmed me up and restored my happy mood! It was a short walk from the park and there are many other cute little shops and restaurants surrounding the coffee shop.

KiKi Ramen

We took our coffee back to our hotel to relax after all of that walking around for a little while. The day flew by so quickly and it was basically dinner time by the time we got back to our hotel. You really lose track of time when you allow yourself to just wander and enjoy yourself! After a brief rest and some freshening up, we walked to KiKi Ramen. It was empty there, which was surprising because it was absolutely delicious! This was the first time I visited a ramen restaurant and I'd gladly visit another (ASAP).

Mbar

After dinner we decided to grab drinks. We initially planned on drinks at The Nest, but our waiter at KiKi Ramen suggested Mbar, and I'm so glad he did! The Nest would have been phenomenal as well, I've heard great things, but we loved the 360 view of the city from the roof at Mbar. For a Saturday night, it wasn't nearly as crowded as I thought it would be. To get in, you give the host your name and the number in your party, then when there is a table available, you get on an elevator and take a quick ride to the top of the building. At the top, you're promptly seated with a spectacular view.
This is a panoramic photo taken with my iPhone, and it cracks me up

I ordered the rosΓ© and I'm no drink connoisseur, but I thought it was great.

This is where I called it a night, because it has been made clear to me on this trip that I am officially old πŸ˜‰ but while my friends headed out for a little more fun, I relaxed in our hotel with my pajamas and I could not have been happier there. The walk back to our hotel was no less scenic than the rest of the day and I snapped a few last photos for Saturday:
SPACE NEEDLE! HOW CUTE!

This was a whole wall of flowers!

For the evening activities I switched my pearl hoops for a more dramatic statement hoop with large fabric flowers from my Etsy, here.

Sunday
Let's Go Sailing
Sunday morning we took our time waking up and getting ready for our day. We walked over to a Whole Foods near us, grabbed some fruit and a bagel, and set up camp in the park to enjoy our brunch there. Luckily, the rest of our time here in Seattle is supposed to be full of really beautiful weather, allowing us as many picnics in the park as we want. We had a sailing trip with Let's Go Sailing booked for 2:45, so after brunch we decided to head to the pier and just explore the area again.

This isn't the greatest photo, but I had to include it because of how amazing it was to look around in there! This store is below the Pike Place Market. It sells aaalllll types of paper things from the 1900's. Original magazines, newspapers, posters, cards, etc. They had the newspaper front with the headline about Titanic sinking in 1912!! But honestly, that doesn't even begin to scratch the surface. If you find yourself in Seattle, ALSO find yourself at the Old Seattle Paperworks.
Can you spot the ENTIRE squid in the left of the photograph??
This fish shop is super popular because its fish-people (cashiers? fisherman?...the men working the booth) throw the fish around when it's ordered. I will be completely honest and say I was less than amused with the whole thing, but the crowd was ooh-ing and ahh-ing and taking videos and *screaming*...yes, screaming, when the fish were thrown. So I thought it was noteworthy to add πŸ˜‚

We didn't even explore too long at all, but our sailing time came up on us very quickly! We were nearly late to check in but definitely did make it! So at 2:45 sharp we were on our boat and departing! Our boat toured Puget Sound and the views were breathtaking. Out on the water is the closest you can get to Mount Rainier from Seattle, obviously, so I took advantage of that and basically didn't take my eyes off the mountain. Our captain and first mate were super young and friendly which made the trip super easy-going and lighthearted. The only thing I would have changed about the trip is that I learned nothing new! I would have loved to hear the history behind the waters or the mountains or even the city of Seattle, so in the future if I return I will look for an informational sail/tour in Puget Sound. I do NOT take for granted the peaceful silence being out on the water, though. And if they had been telling stories of the area some of that would have been lost. So I can't complain!

Boating outfit: hat - sweater - jeans - espadrilles (similar) - earrings

We got off the boat around 4:30 and everyone was absolutely starving. After a quick jaunt around Pike Place Market for the last time (and a brief visit to a cute little candy shop) we grabbed dinner at Victorian Inn. I ordered mussels with a side of french fries and was the happiest camper in the troop.

They had lots of fun fudge flavors at this tiny candy shop. I tried the birthday cake fudge because it seemed like the wildest flavor, and it was yummy!

Cobb's Popcorn

This popcorn shop was hidden behind the Pike Place Market and it was full of fun flavors of popcorn! Our friend got Oreo popcorn and caramel popcorn. I tried the Oreo because, once again, I thought it was the wildest of the two flavors and it was surprisingly delicious! The bags say "guilt-free popcorn" and we are still trying to figure out how in the world that is so πŸ˜‚

Virginia Inn

After our relatively early dinner (finished at 6) we did what we do best, we explored on foot the city of Seattle. We keep running into these bubble-looking features in the city and I really need to figure out what's going on in there! One of the bubbles is a darling restaurant, and I'm not too sure about the others- and there is minimal to no signage! If you've seen these before or if you happen to know exactly what they are, let me know!

Lady Yum

About an hour later we stumbled upon a macaron and wine shop called Lady Yum! Their website says "confections and chaos" and their signs outside the store say "macarons and mischief" and my values strongly align with BOTH of those so I was all for this πŸ˜‰ We got four macarons together and my very favorite was the grapefruit hibiscus. The friendly woman working the counter suggested the lemon because it was her personal favorite- food for thought if you find yourself here some day.

Under the Pike Place Market there is a tiny little antique shop and I couldn't help but stop in. There were little gold bulldog book stops that were VERY tempting, but they were also very heavy and I would have had a very hard time getting them home. Instead I found something a bit smaller- these vintage hand painted coasters are coming home with me! I'm going to do so much research about these so I can figure out who the artist is or what this ship did (if anything) that was note worthy!

Monday

Monday was our very last day, and we were all super exhausted. We took it easy and just did some shopping and (of course) exploring. There's so much in the city to explore- we wandered everyday and found amazing things and kept bookmarking so much that we didn't have enough time for it all! I'm sure I'll be back, though πŸ˜‰

Great State Burger was AMAZING. Officially my favorite burger place (if you follow me on Instagram, you know I love allllll burger restaurants πŸ˜‚) This one is the best!!

And right before we took the Light Rail to the airport, I had to grab one more vanilla latte, and this one did not disappoint.

So I'm only partially sorry for the unbelievably long post today, because I truly had the time of my life and needed to fit it all in! If you ever have a question about Seattle, please message me!

Thank you for reading and happy Wednesday! (had to check my phone to see what day it wasπŸ˜…yikes)
