The Organic Skin Co.
Happy Saturday! As you all know, I've been using The Organic Skin Co.'s products now for a week! When they reached out regarding working together, I was excited simply because I've always had an acne problem and I love testing different types of products on my skin because I can REALLY see what's happening. My skin is very responsive...LOL this is a good and a bad thing. If I eat unhealthy for two days you can tell on my skin, if I'm stressed for a single day, you can see it by my skin, etc. On the other hand, if I use really high quality and effective products for a week(😉)...you'll have to stay tuned.
All that I did this week was switch out my current blush/lip colors, mascara, and concealer with what they sent me and added their skin oil and moisturizer to my normal routine. Every other aspect of my life this week was the same as usual. I love myself a good experiment! Here is my current skincare routine: exfoliant - a specialty wash (mine is for acne) - a rose water toner - a serum or oil - moisturizer.
These selfies are both terrible, and listen, I'm embarrassed to be posting them here but you can really see where my acne marks/redness were healed! The honest and simple ingredients in these products really nourished my skin this week. I haven't felt more confident in my skin for as long as I can remember! After just a few times using these products I was confident enough for an outing with the fam wearing only concealer on my face 😋 I genuinely didn't expect these products to work SO well! I think what really did it for my acne was the Honeysuckle and Turmeric Face Oil. It is meant to "soften, refresh, rejuvenate, and repair". Usually when products have what they're supposed to accomplish written on them I can't count on them to do exactly what they say they will, maybe one or two things, but they rarely live up to the expectation I have. This product did exactly what it said it would within a single week. Take that for what you will! Most days I used the Rosehip and Orange Moisturizer only at night, and it felt like truly pampering myself. It's such a thick, luxurious formula that DOESN'T feel thick when you're wearing it. How they did that, I'm not sure. It may be a miracle, but like, a miracle that you can purchase 😂
Let's talk makeup! They sent a cheek/lip color combo in "first blush", their cream concealer in "porcelain", and mascara. First of all, I was super excited to try the lip and cheek color right now because so many people are coming out with a cheek and lip duo and I hadn't jumped on board yet! Also- I rarely use cream products so this was all sooo new to me. The first time I tried the cheek/lip color I was not so fond of it. I applied it directly to my skin on a day that I wore only concealer and it wouldn't spread or blend well and I felt like a clown because I used too much of it! So here are my tips: re-apply the rosehip and orange moisturizer if it has been a while since your skincare routine that morning, then apply your makeup. I tried this later in the week and was blown away by the difference. I don't think there were enough of my natural skin oils the first time I tried this color for it to spread properly, so a primer or moisturizer before are a must for me! Also, start with a teeny tiny bit and slowly add more, LOL. I don't know why I assumed I would need to use so much for adequate color, but I started with way too much and had a horrible time trying to fix it 😂 The color was absolutely beautiful when worn properly! I like it on my lips more than the cheeks, but on days that my makeup routine needs to be quick or I'm on the go, this will be so perfect.
I couldn't believe how pigmented and perfect the concealer was. You just need the smallest bit to cover dark circles/under eyes, acne, etc. When the week started I had quite a bit of acne and redness from recently healed spots, so I tried this immediately and I wish I had taken a photo! I'm very pleased with their concealer and if you're looking for something with amazing coverage, this one is your best bet. And lastly, mascara! Usually I opt for a thickening mascara instead of a lengthening (which is what they offer) but I was pleasantly surprised with their formula! The wand really gives a lift to your lashes and separates them so they're not clumpy. I was impressed even though my lashes are short and sparse, this made them seem much longer and evenly spaced...that sounds weird, but it was great!
I had Matthew snap a quick photo 😂 Notice how my left side seems so much shorter than the right?? Also, I use black mascara only and this is sooo dark. One layer of this mascara is plenty for a rich, dark lash. The only thing I wish was different was that it added thickness, like I said earlier. My lashes are thin and sparse! If you have thick lashes already that just need a lift and some color, this is perfect!
Questions I received from Instagram:
Q: What are the ingredients of the face oil?
A: I talked about this stuff a lot, I'm not surprised I got this question. The Good Oil Face Oil has 9 ingredients: jojoba seed oil, caprylic/capric triglyceride, sunflower seed oil, almond seed oil, apricot seed oil, calendula flower extract (um, COOL), turmeric root extract, rosemary extract, honeysuckle flower extract (MY FAVE! shown below)
Q: Do they test on animals?
A: The Organic Skin Co. is cruelty free (so, no), vegan, and certified organic (each product tells you what percentage organic and stuff which I found super cool!).
Q: If you could recommend one product from the ones you tested, which one?
A: Uggghhhh, don't make me choose! My very favorite was the face oil, if you couldn't tell. I truly believed it was the mastermind behind my skin clearing up this week. So if you struggle with redness or acne, the face oil for sure! Even if you don't, try it out 😉
All in all, I'm very pleased with The Organic Skin Co.'s products! They really fixed up my skin in a week and gave me so much confidence! One of my favorite things is the way the turmeric and honeysuckle face oil smells. My family had a large honeysuckle plant outside our front door for a really long time, so this oil has a nostalgic smell of summers at home and it's such a nice reminder 😊
Thank you for reading! Let me know if you test out any of these products!
