As much as I love spring and summer, I can't resist being excited about a new season. Thoughts of cozy, cloudy days, apple cider, and scary movies start to fill my head around this time but most of all, fall style! I've never put together a seasonal capsule wardrobe, but I was very excited about the color scheme of J.Crew's new arrivals and thought it would make for a perfect basics post.
I love seeing unique colors find their way into seasonal trends, like pink! This fall a mauve-y pink will be very "in" and I'm here for it. J.Crew has incorporated that pink into a beautiful floral dress, the heels and sneakers I've added to this capsule, sweaters, and more. The other color I was pleased to see was a forest green. The past few years of fall olive green has been a favorite, and I'm happy to see we've re-imagined the fall green every so slightly! Forest green will also wear well when fall turns to winter, so it'll be worth investing in a few of those pieces.
In your capsule wardrobe you'll want transitional pieces, layering items, formal, casual, and a mix, and a handbag to match everything. I did my best to include it all here. It's also a good idea to pick out a new accessory for a new season. It will be so easy this fall to throw on this popover dress, a pair of mules, and the hair scarf (which could also be tied onto the handles of this beautiful handbag) and run out the door! On a cooler day, grab the blazer/sweater in either color. All of these pieces can be so easily mixed and matched and dressed up or down. I love this wardrobe so much!
