Homemade Gerber Yogurt Melts

Hi guys! Thank goodness we are finally getting fall weather! It's been so nice to wear sweaters this week! But of course with fall weather comes fall sicknesses- and it's hit our family pretty badly. Theodore hasn't been feeling too hot and one of his favorite things in the world is Gerber's yogurt melts. He hasn't had much of an appetite while he's been sick but one thing I can always get him to eat are his yogurt melts- the only problem with that is that he can get through almost an entire bag in an afternoon if we don't pay attention! I literally buy three packages of them in a week. They're only around $3 a package I believe ($10/week), buuuut if I made them myself I thought I could definitely cut the cost down significantly! (I was right.)

All you'll need is greek yogurt, honey (optional), and your baby's favorite puree blend! We love Once Upon a Farm purees that can be found in Target's produce section. Once Upon a Farm is sustainable- a certified B corp, organic, and practices only ethical farming practices with the majority of their farms located in California. Another thing that really sold me on the brand was a video shared by Jennifer Garner (one of the founders) comparing their puree with a few competitors. She blends a plan ol' mango and compares that blend to Once Upon a Farm's mango puree and a few other competitors and it's remarkable the differences! The differences in color and consistency and you have to assume nutritional value will shock you. Once Upon a Farm's puree was nearly identical to the fresh blended mango and the competitor's sadly could not compare. So for our DIY yogurt melts, we'll be using Once Upon a Farm!

Ingredients:
1 cup plain greek yogurt
1 tablespoon Once Upon a Farm sweet potato puree
1 tsp honey (optional)

Method:
Mix the three ingredients in a bowl with a fork or spoon and pour into either a frosting piping bag or plastic zip top bag. I make a lot of cookies (lol) so I had piping bags lying around but zip top plastic bags work just as well! Line a baking sheet (the baking sheet is for stability in the freezer) with parchment paper and pipe out penny-sized mounds of the yogurt mixture.
Set them in the freezer to freeze for around an hour. When they're frozen, slide them off the parchment paper and into an airtight container for storage. They do melt pretty quickly- so only take out what will be eaten in a few minutes and leave the rest stored in the freezer.
