Lightweight Makeup Routine

For the majority of our time in quarantine I haven't worn makeup. Right now is a really good time to let your skin breathe- especially if you have acne prone skin like I do. I've been really happy with the progress my skin has been making because of the lack of makeup I'm using but, on those days that you want or need to feel slightly more put together, I have a great lightweight makeup routine to share that won't feel heavy and even kind of feels like you're not wearing makeup at all in my opinion! I think the key to a good lightweight but effective makeup look is just a few high quality key pieces. In my case, it's three of my base products.

Lancome's skin tint is phenomenal. This is my second bottle- usually when I finish a product I try to move on to something I've never tried before but I really wanted to use their skin tint again! This never happens. It's easy to apply, lasts forever, and can be built up for more coverage. However, I think one layer has amazing coverage for how lightweight the formula is.

The second product here is Lancôme's oil free primer. It isn't quite as impressive as the skin tint (the skin tint is going to be hard to beat) but I do notice that my skin looks slightly more "airbrushed"- smaller pores, smooth appearance, not too shiny. Sometimes with really lightweight products my skin's flaws stand out more so this product is key to blurring the imperfections and creating a "flawless" base for the lightweight products.

Another really important piece is your concealer. The Hide and Seek concealer from The Organic Skin Co. is the best concealer I've ever used. It covers every blemish, every dark spot, the bags under my eyes- everything. This has lasted so long and when it's gone it's another product I'll be reordering.

Okay now that we've got the most important products in the routine out of the way I'll list out my steps for you! I'm no professional makeup artist but I have paid attention to how my makeup sits and lasts throughout the day depending on the order I apply/how and I love how this current routine is working for me.

1. Lancôme primer. I'm a terrible person so I apply one pump of this with my (clean) hands.

2. Lancôme skin tint. Some days I use one pump on the back of my hand and apply with a Real Techniques foundation brush, and others I, again, use my hands.

3. Estée Lauder double wear matte foundation. Mine is kiiiinda old because I don't use this daily so I'm not sure if the new matte foundation's formula has changed- but this one is great and barely there! Doesn't feel heavy or clog pores.

4. Hide and Seek concealer. Okay I'm kind of weird about my concealer. I don't know why I apply it this way but I use my ring finger to pick up the product (it's a cream) and I dab it under my eyes in a triangle.
Like this!!

Then I lightly brush more of the Estée Lauder powder over it. I also dab a small amount of concealer on the top of the tip of my nose and lightly powder that as well.

5. Morphe Lo-Fi Sculpt and Shimmer palette for bronzer/contour: I don't really contour properly on days that I want light makeup...for obvious reasons. I use the shade Literati for a super subtle contour/bronzy-ness right under the cheekbones and on the "corners" of my forehead.

6. Maybelline Fit Me Blush in coral: Just a little bit! Lightly sweep the blush on the cheekbones and anywhere the sun would naturally hit. This is a dupe for the Nars Orgasm blush and I love it.

7. Morphe palette again for highlight: I've been using the shade Supernova for subtle highlight. I brush it over the tops of my cheekbones and sometimes the tip of my nose with a Real Techniques brush. Honestly I haven't decided if I love it or hate it on my nose...I'll let you know if I ever decide.

8. L'Oréal Telescopic mascara and The Organic Skin Co Black Lash mascara: Yes. Two mascaras! L'Oréal Telescopic is perfect for bottom lashes because of the thin brush with teeny tiny bristles. I use it in brown for a more natural look. It simply makes the lashes look a little more long and pronounced. The Organic Skin Co's mascara brush is great for volume! I use this in black otherwise my top lashes look nonexistent.

9. Estée Lauder Brow Multitasker. I love love love this product. It's subtle and easy to apply. I think next though I want to try one of those brow products that mimic tiny little hairs- you know what I'm talking about? If you've tried one please let me know which one and whether you'd recommend it!!

That's it! It seems like a lot but it's a breeze and truly feels like you're not wearing any makeup at all. What are your favorite lightweight makeup products?? DM me on Instagram, @elizabetht.taylor!
