Terrain's Unique Holiday Style

So yes, I do know my last post was about Anthropologie's Christmas decor. This one does seem very similar. However, I'm going to post it anyway. Unfortunately this year holidays will be less about your entire family being in one place at the same time, and more about however you choose to celebrate safely. The rule seems to be (and it makes sense) if you don't see them on a daily basis already, don't risk exposure to anyone by gathering for the upcoming holidays. Maybe this is your chance to try a family zoom call or something similar.

Holidays are unbelievably important and special to me, and I know I'm not unique in that mindset. So I've struggled internally with the idea of not being surrounded by my entire family this season. Thinking about a cozy, at home holiday season with just my boys is starting to grow on me because after this year we need some slow, intentional time together for sure. Another thing I've been able to get excited about is decorating. And I think that's why I've been heavy on the decor posts since Halloween. Home decor/design/color schemes/fabrics/textures and allllllll the similar items fill me with a joy that not a lot else does! So while I wallow in self pity (maybe read "selfISH pity") a comforting presence is home decor shopping, dreaming, posting.

Terrain is always killing it, but they especially are this holiday season. They have such unique pieces that feel thoughtful, intentional, and home-y. I love it all, but I've chosen my very favorite pieces in their categories. Namely, "trim the tree", "decorate", and "entertain". Even if you won't be doing the type of entertaining that you're used to, using special dishes, place settings and the like with your immediate family will help make this holiday season feel extra special and maybe even more normal. (Dare I say the word "normal" right now??)

Trim the tree:
Velvet ornaments are definitely something I need to look into. How precious! Also, I'm sure that can by DIY'd quite simply if you're good at that type of thing! The hummingbird ornament is just speaking to me- I've always had a thing for birds and especially hummingbirds! My other faves are cardinals and orioles. And that tiny decorated tree?? I love it! I big thing in the needlepoint community is having a needlepoint ornament tree or garland. This teeny tree would be perfect for my small stash.

Decorate:
My absolute fave out of this whole collage is that bow. It would look darling on both sides of a mantel, atop a tree if you could figure it out, with a photo gallery wall, or literally anywhere you decide to place it. It's gorgeous! Also a huge fan of the colors in the dried fruit wreath. Last year I did dried orange garland and dried orange ornaments, but I think this year I'll do dried grapefruit to stick to that color scheme I blogged about last.

Entertain:
Even if you're not entertaining the masses for any of the upcoming holidays, creating that same special environment for your close family or friends that you will be entertaining will go a long way. And if you're not hosting this year, some of these would make beautiful gifts for your host! Specifically the Brunch Punch Cocktail Kit (beautiful and delicious) and the Antler Beverage Tub. I feel like once you've hit the point that you need a wine tub you've made it...adding to my Christmas list asap 😉

Even typing this post out is putting some pep back in my step. Certainly holidays will not be my treasured tradition and family filled affairs, but I'll be preparing for them the same way, decorating the same way, and certainly cooking the same way to make sure my little fam has the best holiday season! Perspective is everything in a time such as this and I hope you're able to remain optimistic and full of joy!

Thank you for reading!
